Hi Sarah! I am usually a silent follower, but I just watched your video and I totally feel your pain about your son‘s reflex. My son also went through that, and the issue ended up being that he had acute stomach muscle separation, which meant that his abdominal muscles were not used at the top, it was just a small burst effect. But this meant that his tummy protruded through his muscles, and whenever he Moved his little body, his own stomach muscles squeezed his belly and he would spit up everywhere. He was also losing weight and I was experiencing everything that you are experiencing. It’s extremely disheartening I know. However, once we got the diagnosis, it was a relief because I have been doing elimination diet and was driving myself crazy. I stopped breast-feeding, and started pumping and added a thickener to his bottles, it was called simply thick. I don’t know if you have that in Australia or not, but I just added it to the breastmilk and the spitting up stopped entirely. My pediatrician said that if that didn’t help then he could have a small surgery done on the flap in his esophagus to help keep it closed, but the thickener did the trick, and we didn’t have to pursue anything more invasive. The doctor said that once he got older and his abdomin stretched out more that the problem would fix itself, and it did. Not sure if this information will help, but you may want to talk to your pediatrician about it. I totally understand the worry and anguish that comes along with your baby spitting up all the time and not gaining weight though. I pray that you find answer soon!

Sara I am so sorry to hear about Harlows reflux. I know you are working with doctors and are probably doing all the tests they think of but please encourage them to test for celiac disease if they have not already. I wish you both all the best, and hope you get answers soon

I have a five-month-old with reflux and weight gain issues and it is so. hard. We've also seen all the specialists and I've cut out gluten, dairy, soy, etc. but no one has any answers. I do think we just have to get through it and our babies will be ok in the end. You're doing great!

I’ve been watching you since the beginning and your videos just hit different than all the other ones I’ve seen. You are doing so great as a mama of 3. Being a mom is so hard but so rewarding.

Have you heard of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance? Similiar symptoms to allergy/CMPA but is a lactose imbalance in breast milk from oversupply. Has helped my reflux/colic baby so much!

It's hard when we think our milk is not good for our baby and we know it is the best they can have. With my first we had some hard months, with our second I just cut everything that was bad for the first and no greens too. I ate fruit, milk, coffee, eggs, meat, rice and gluten-free pasta. it was hard. The third is going a bit better I can eat that and tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber. If I go out I know the next day and night will be bad. And I also eat bagels and peanut butter from time to time. But the rest is just bad. You're doing great taking away what you think might be causing it, bit by bit. That is a good solution and it will work <3 Your milk is the best thing for him and you can always mix (breastfeeding with formula), if YOU think that is best <3

My son had CMPA and I breast fed him for 6 months but unfortunately the only thing that made a real difference was hyper allergenic formula (Neocate). I cut out eggs, soy and dairy. It upset me to stop breastfeeding but honestly he was a new baby once he started with the formula. I hope you get some answers soon🤍

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My second is 1 year now and he was like that as a newborn. He actually had a BRUE at 3 months old and we think it was because of the reflux but always listen for little gasps and quick sucks for air. I pray it gets better soon!

Try a winsy bit of gripe water. It will help him pass wind. Truly, it may be everything you're being told by the doctors, GRIPE WATER, 100% it's not a massive fix, definitely a short term till he starts to sit up,.but it will work.

I have been there, severe reflux and the guilt that they’re not ‘thriving’ even though you work day and night to figure out the answer is relentless. I survived on a max of two hours of broken sleep for months in constant fight or flight and ended up with daily panic attacks and anxiety. You’re doing an amazing job, I promise they grow out of it and I promise he will be a happy healthy toddler x
