you'd need to insert foam within all the boxes! Will be additional bouncy!? Also place under A-Frame & the sides for even better bouncy.

Your trailer is not stable by any standards. The first time you are stopped by the Coast Guard, they will tow you back to the dock.

Most boat owners will tell you the best day of boating is when they sell their boat. Boats are just a money pit. Yours is too old, it will require lots of maintenance.

Maybe you should make some sort of removable Outriggers with totes or anything else that will float for bouency (?) on each end so the trailer won't be so tippy (side to side) when it is in the water.

Another project, what is the end game? What happened to that house you were working on. How about the abandoned cabin you were going to do something about. Now an abandoned Navy barge. A second dozer. Wow that is some ambition.

Having done this many many times. Inner tubes are your best option. Easy to replace, Easy to secure, and cheap.

Active duty CG here who works on ships (navy and cg ships have a lot of similarities). A few things that may help in your project endeavors. 1) the tanks in the front of the barge that were filled to the top were likely ballast water used to level out/trim out the ship. Those plugs are used to provide just enough tank access to drop a sounding tape in them to measure the water height. There’s so many compartments/tanks in that hull due to the fact they most likely did a lot of trim/stability evolutions to balance additional equipment they hauled. 2) the sounding caps are not standard socket size as you found out and instead we have T bars we make to help open them on the ships. If you dig around you might find a big T shaped wrench somewhere around. We use silicone gel lubricant to keep them from seizing up on deck. 3) general rule of thumb, if you open a tank access and air is rushing out, then most likely that tank is/will be flooding. If air rushes in then there may be a fire or environmental condition consuming air in the space. The caveats to that would be a barge scenario where the sides and deck of the barge get a lot of sunlight and heat up frequently, that can cause slight pressure differentials. Be careful opening any tanks or access covers below the waterline and best of luck!

Check the trailer axle. Axles usually have a small bend in the middle to adjust for camber when loaded. If it is in fact slightly bent in the middle, the tires will have positive camber when the axle is flipped and it will wear the tires quicker.
