I used to fish for Bluegill in some ponds out of a jon boat with my papa&#39;s old fly rod when I was a kid. You should do this it&#39;s really fun even for channel catfish. I used to put one of the medium to big sized orange slip through corks with the little black stoppers, a split shot, and a #6 or #8 sized eagle claw long-shank hooks, and last but not least a cricket. I would just pull out a bunch of line off the reel into the water, rear that joker back and chunk it. I have caught a lot of fish like this and it is really fun. Imagine pulling them in with your line tied to an over-cooked spaghetti noodle. For catfish I used the size 1 Gomakatsu octopus hooks, just snell it through the front of the eyelet onto your leader line.

My 5 yr old got a kick out of this, he said Kendall caught a trout as big as mine. We have guessed it at 10lb but it was 26&quot; long and 18 girth. He caught it on a little 7 ft Eagle Claw fly rod with 2lb leader and a cheapo Martin dragless reel.
