Okay, despite Mark&#39;s dissatisfaction with it, I think I understand Mortem. There are a lot of games like this, where you/the protagonist works at a crappy job and a bunch of strange customers come in. They usually end with a killer breaking in and chasing you. Mortem acts as a parody/deconstruction where the <i>protagonist</i> is the killer.<br><br>The protagonist has just killed someone and is in the process of disposing the body; players don&#39;t see this. The game itself begins when he is interrupted; his uncle calls and asks him to fill in at the store.<br><br>People srart acting strangely. In other games, this feels meanspirited, like &quot;look at all these weird (interesting) people! Aren&#39;t they perfect reflections of reality? Aren&#39;t they annoying? Don&#39;t you hate them? Don&#39;t people <i>suck?&quot;</i> and the developers expect you to side with the bitter protagonist. However, in Mortem, this is a reflection of how the protagonist sees the world; he is still bitter, but that bitterness is not aspirational. He sees people as shallow, jumpy, and totally disposable. He doesn&#39;t give money to the homeless man or tell the woman where her son is because he&#39;s evil.<br><br>Then we get to the apartment and see the body. And instead of calling thr police, the protagonist decides to hide the body. And it starts to make sense, why the protagonist is so cold.<br><br>Mark is right; this didn&#39;t look like a fun game to play. It would work better as a short story. But it&#39;s not as hollow as a lot of the other indie horror games of this genre.

Mark, if you wanna play a very well made game, check out &quot;Letters of Bernard Thorne&quot;...you play as an old man in a wheelchair with ptsd, its really creepy and sooo freaking sad, but its such a well made game and story line! You&#39;d love it!
