The Machine ships at $1050 for a 512GB model and $1350 for a 2TB model, so we have DIY PC price comparisons included. Our testing of the Steam Machine benchmarks gaming performance, GPU performance, framerate (FPS), CPU performance, compression and decompression, thermals, acoustics, and more. We also look at SteamOS in-depth and at BIOS, power draw, and more in our in-depth Steam Machine review. My laptop died early this year and I was like &quot;plz give us Gabe Cube faster&quot; yet there was nothing to hear from Valve so I decided to build mini PC worth every penny that will be cheaper than early price speculations (550-700 USD). Ryzen 5 7500X3D and 6700XT 12GB plus 1 stick of 16 gb ddr5 and 1tb ssd from dead laptop. Works fine, temps are lovely and all of it was around 790 USD with water cooler but used stick of RAM. Now I&#39;m so glad that I pulled the trigger and I&#39;m a huge fanboy of steam deck.

TLDR: 2019 hardware at 2027 prices with no support for some games, but it looks neat and is quiet.

This box seems to be very power limited out of the box. Are there any metrics for overclocking / unlocking the power draw? Would that give a noticeable performance increase from stock?

thanks Steve. Also, did you consider using a thermochromic filament for your vent panels? I think that would be an interesting look (note, ive not looked up any and no idea if its even possible)

It basically has an early adopters tax. If Valve keeps at it, the next generation should be cheaper and offer better specs.

ironically, it would work great as an office pc, but it just doesn&#39;t perform well enough to actually recommend it as a gaming pc.

It gets smoked in GPU performance by PS5 Pro, it costs $150 more with a quarter of the storage, half the VRAM, and no controller. Insane.

There are an awful lot of delusional people in this comment section who think they&#39;re gonna build a better PC for $1,000. Good luck.

Ok we can blame AI for many things, but this pricing is really dumb af. you can&#39;t release a subpar base PS5 quality pc for more than double the price with no controller or games... oh and 512gb for the base model also.. <br>I know scalpers and fanboys will sell it out on release but I don&#39;t see this working out overall..
